Job overview:
We are seeking an experienced and driven QA Team Lead to join our Engineering team. As a QA Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the testing strategies and processes that ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will lead a team of QA engineers and manual QAs, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, high-quality software solutions.
The QA Team Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our software products by leading a team of QA professionals in the development and execution of test plans, strategies, and processes. This role involves close collaboration with development, product management, and other stakeholders to align QA efforts with business goals and product requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for quality.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, he will have the responsibility of managing the QA team members that are dispatched into the different application teams.
Responsibilities:
- Team leadership: lead, mentor, and develop the QA team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
- Test strategy development: design and implement comprehensive test strategies, including manual and automated testing, to ensure product quality and adherence to requirements
- Process management: oversee the QA processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment with industry best practices. This comprises the integration tests, regression tests, UAT, load tests and any other quality related process that may be necessary
- Collaboration: partner with development, product management, Infrastructure and other departments to ensure that QA efforts are integrated into the overall software development lifecycle
- Issue management: manage and prioritize defects and issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication with relevant stakeholders
- Quality metrics: define, track, and report on quality metrics, providing insights and recommendations to management
- Continuous improvement: identify areas for improvement in QA processes and lead initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of the QA function
- Test environment management: oversee the setup, maintenance, and optimization of test environments, ensuring they closely mirror production, to maintain consistency and relevance between testing and production environments
- Enhance automation strategies: define the automation strategy by implementing tools like Cypress for end-to-end testing, ensuring that automation efforts are aligned with the overall QA strategy and contribute to faster, more reliable releases
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in software testing/QA, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Technical expertise: strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes. Proficiency with automated testing tools and frameworks is essential, including:
- Mastering of RESTful API testing and tools such as Postman or REST
- Strong proficiency in Selenium WebDriver
- Proficient in implementing, integrating, and executing automated tests using Cypress and Ghost within CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLabCI, Git, and Docker
- Experience in managing load tests
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology
- Certifications: ISTQB, CSTE, or other relevant certifications
- Industry experience: experience in Ticketing or E-commerce is highly desirable
- Leadership skills: proven ability to lead and mentor a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Analytical thinking: excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail-oriented and analytical approaches to quality assurance
- Communication: effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Agile methodology: experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and familiarity with iterative development practices
- Adaptability: ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Proactive approach: proactively identifies potential issues and leads efforts to drive improvements in quality and efficiency
